Title: Good shocks for long guns
Post by: china_rider on March 30, 2007, 02:21:25 AM
Hey all.... At a few festivals this year I'm looking to run AKG 489s + ADK TL (Omnis) -> R4.  The problem is that my current shock mounts are not the best for the big guns.  I currently have a set of Sabra-Som SS1, and a pair of SSM shocks for the 489s.  The standard shocks work fine for the TLs.  However, both of my other mounts don't seem to be able to support the weight of the long gun caps.  So after being set up for a bit they droop and are out of alignment.  I've been able to negate this a bit by using the AKG A61 joint and mounting the bodies vertical with the CK69s horizontal.  This way if I wrap my cables properly around the stand everything seems to stay pretty much in place.

I was wondering if anyone had any bright ideas on a shock mount that would be able to handle the 489s without putting the A61s in the picture?

I am not familiar with an AKG 489  ???

However - a Rycote suspension with ConnBox should do the trick.

C480B + CK69

I second both of the recommendations given.

Thanks for the advise, will probably order one of the sets tomorrow.  I have no idea how the CK69s will turn out but got them cheep enough that I wanted to try.  I'll either be running my TLs or borrowing some 462s to mix with.  I'm looking forward to giving it a try.
