Title: Microtrack and Metal Detectors
Post by: insanescott on March 30, 2007, 05:24:43 AM
Will the microtrack set off metal detectors?  I would like to tape a show at a local House of Blues.

Depends how sensitive they are set.  Back in 2002 I got into a concert with a Sony M1 and a brickiron battery box, they used airport-like gates but had the sensitivity set low; the same type gates at a place I do arbitrations is set to go off for a paper clip.  But if anything can get by the MT should.

Keep it simple. Just put it in the carry on that goes on the conveyor belt. When I travel I have an usual amount of elecrtonics in my carry on luggage, batteries, chargers, many charger cords, recorders, phones, iPods, mini speakers, etc, and no one has ever raised an eyebrow. The x rays do not hurt anything either.

Just plug in a set of headphones and stick it in your pocket......When they ask what it is, just tell them, it's your MP3 player......If that don't work just keep a spare 20 dollar bill handy and you should slide right in.....Good Luck..

Peace,
jk

Thanks for the alternative ideas guys.  But does anyone know if this unit will pass through a hand held metal detector.  Thanks.

I've had it go through clear.  And I've had it "detected" ("what's this", "my blackberry", "ok").
Its really impossible to give you an answer to your question, since it could go either way.

If your real worried. Buy an arm sling. Wrap the microtrack to your arm with A ace bandage. Put your arm in the sling.

Hold your arm up a little when he wands you then say ouch. he'll let you right through.
