I have two JB3's, one works with the firewire cable (the JB3 is detected by my laptop),and the other does not. What can be done to fix this? Thanks for any suggestions.

It is possible the your firewire port is bad on the JB3. On mine, i can't get it to recognise the USB port but works perfectly on the firewire. Go figure.
