Title: Rockbox - Gapless playback issue???
Post by: Cheesecadet on April 08, 2007, 10:50:02 PM
Hey there...I have rockbox installed on my H120 and I thought they were supposed to be gapless playback?

I uploaded a copy of one from the vault onto the player after using EAC off the original CDs.

I get a little tick between tracks when listening though.

Should this be happening?  I am hoping to fix this issue ASAP.  Can anyone recommend a current build that will not have this problem (with a link preferably)?

Thanks

What´s your current build?
You see the version when starting your H120 at the bottom of the screen.

I´m using the 20070217 version with REP included, couldn´t notice your issues.

Check Mmmmm´s signature and get the pink-coloured link where the REP is included.

direct link to the latest "stable"(I never had problems with his builds) build inluding the REP:it´s from February 28th 2007

Yeah...I am using the Mmmm's build w/ REP you specified.  I have had no problems with the build aside from this issue when playback that should be "gapless".  There is not really a tick...but it is a noticeable track change.

I read somewhere in the Rockbox forums that only MP3's encoded using LAME are truly gapless, however, I tried encoding with LAME and had the same result.

Although MP3 wasn't designed to do gapless, I certainly don't experience what you're hearing....
I also use EAC to rip my CD's, which itself calls lame to encode.

As this isn't exactly a recording topic, maybe you should ask about it on the rockbox IRC or forum...
