Post by: pnobles on October 20, 2003, 08:59:26 PM
hey all,
i have been asked to tape some of my school vocal groups this fall.  i was wondering if anyone had ever done this?  and if you have any advice?   the gear i have to use is : Neumann skm184, Earthworks 71's, Ua-5, MP-2, ADC-20.   i was thinking about getting a 4 mic mixer for it, but i would like some imput on this subject.

any ideas on how to run and where to run from ?

thanks
Pat

Hey Pat:

I'd definately use the Earthworks up front, since they have a great bassy proximity effect...  not overly bassy but tight enough, and more transparent than the Neumanns.  I'd use the Neumanns in an ORTF pair a little further back, behind the conductor, and mix in the 71's a little closer..

If you have more specifics feel free to email or PM and I'll give you some more refined techniques for the specific situation...  Good luck!
