Well I sold my dpa 4061's in hopes to upgrade my rig, but I had to buy a car instead. I wanted to go with the compact dpa cards and a sd722, but that isn't going to happen for awhile. So I'm just wondering if I should sell all my gear (irivers, diy opamp mod sbm1, st-9100 pre, d8 and other dat stuff) in favor of a acm pmd-660. Would it be worth it. Right now I'm only planning to record shows surreptitiously. Does anyone think that there will be an improvement in sound?(is this a stupid question?) I'll probably get a pair of at853s from sound pros. I plan to record in small bassy venues and stadiums. I've done a couple recordings with my previous rig and I think it's just a lot of shit to carry around when you are stxxlthing. If anyone could help me in my decission, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
-Trenton

i would be all over your sbm-1 if you were thinking about the upgrade bug ;D

IMO...
keep your church pre and get his cards and an r9 or h2
you'll be content for a while.
or...
check out the audix micro 1290. nice set of cards about the size of a cigarette.
while i'm a HUGE fan of the acm660, the mics are more important in the chain, imo.

Hey Nick,
I still listen to that GM show you recorded with audix 1290's in 2004. It was THE reason i went with them. Was it concord, nh?

I forgot all about the audix micros. I have a couple great recordings made with them! So would the audix 1290 cardioids and the acm660 be a good match? Also can you buy the audix micros in a matched pair? Thanks!

yes, the ol' capital theater.
that was the 1290hc (hypers), and that recording does kick some ass. and that was running into a vanilla digi-mod UA5. smokes still though eh? I listen to that show a lot. One of, if not my favorite MULE shows.
