Title: MT problem: A few mins of recording missing from my track & channel problem
Post by: SClassical on April 29, 2007, 10:59:24 PM
Has anyone experience a few secs/mins missing from a recording with the current MT firmware?

I was recording via digital signal from the V3 using a 8GB Kingston card 45X and today was the only time I hear a few mins lost from a recording. Luckly I was running a backup (R-09).

Just a bit strange to me.

More info, such as was it the beginning, the end, or somewhere in the middle?

Near the begining...about 5 mins into the music...there is a few secs/mins missing...it does not show in the wav. It jumped from one part of the music to the next like a skip on a CD.

What kind of CF card are you using? If it one of the newer faster burst types, that may be the problem...

I'm using the 8GB Kingston 45X

Also forgot to tell you folks...yesterday my MT actually had a reverse channel situation...when I talked into the left mic the right channel level moved and if I talked into the right mic the left channel level moved. So I rebooted my MT and after rebooting everything went back to normal. (this was using the digital coaxial RCA)

So just to tell everyone to check this before recording. So if it happens to you just reboot your MT.

Yesterday was the first time I experience both problems occuring... Apart from that I've never had problems with my MT with the current firmware...Maybe it's just something randam.

Now I actually got recordings to compare:

Schoeps CCM2S>V3>MT   vs.   Schoeps CCM2S>V3>MR1

DPA4052>V3>MT    vs.     Schoeps CCM2S>V3>MT

Once I sorted my audio files I'll post 2 polls.

Looks as if the 2nd half of the concert that night had reversed channels, even though the first half was fine after rebooting - it seems as if the reversed channel returned.

The line-out to my R-09 was fine for both halves. So I think it is my MT, which has the channel problem. Don't know if anyone here experience reverse channels on the MT from a V3 using the current firmware and 8GB Kingston 45X card recording at 24/96 via coax.

I had something like that happen to me two days ago during a live recording using a digital source from an Apogee MiniMe S/PDIF I/O
at 44.1k 16 bit. Media: 4GB SanDisk ultra II CF card. The glitch occurred 50:30 into the recording. If I didn't have my back-up running (laptop using the USB out from the MiniMe) I would have missed that part of the performance. The wav file from the MT was missing 3.5 seconds, no space, it sounded like a clean edit, but in the wrong place where no edit should be. Using latest firmware update 1.4.6 - it's the first time I noticed this. Anyone figure out an answer?

I'd guess something happened with the digital audio interface signal out of the V3 into the MT.  Like maybe the cable connection was marginal and/or got totally compromised for a short time until the MT could again get another signal lock?

EDIT:  Sorry, actually it's a few secs not mins - just checked. Seem to be the firmware because it never happen to me before with the older firmwares. Now I seem to recall it happened before with the same firmware in another session a few weeks ago. So it has been twice now. So just to tell everyone best to have a backup when running the MT while recording digitally.

Today I recorded another concert with my MT going digi coax from my V3....again I have channels exchange (left became right and vice versa) using Kingston 8GB 45X card running at 24/98. Don't know why I am getting this all the time. Anyone else seeing this?
