Title: DIY 1/8 male to 1/8 male stereo patch cable
Post by: darktrain on April 30, 2007, 06:38:20 PM
I was looking at the available 1/8 male to 1/8 male stereo patch cables and was thinking that they just aren't what i am looking for, i want to use 2 right angle plugs and maybe 6 inches of line, is there much involved with this, What wire would i need besides 2 stereo right angle plugs and the easiest/fastest place to pic it up.

Thanks

There are lots of cable options. If you're wanting silver cable, there are a few very good fleaBay sellers. Keep in mind that their stock/supply varies. As for working with 1/8" stereo plugs, they are pretty easy. However, I've never attempted the ra 1/8" plugs. If you're not really set up or experienced with soldering, heat shrinking, etc., I'm sure you could hit up a cable maker at TS. I was in need of a 1/8" stereo cable a while back and was not in the DIY mode. I opted to buy the cable from Ed at Kind Kables. No regrets, very high quality. I do like doing them myself though. The burns on the hands are getting fewer and the cables are getting better.  :P

I would talk to Nickspicks. He is a user here that sells cables. He could make you a very nice cable for not alot of money.

ok i will give him a shout out, this is a patch for one of your battery boxes that i got from edtyre, tried the 12 inch patch with straight plugs and thought the right angles would "tighten" it up a bit.

Ok go to BTX.COM they sell everything you need. I would use some mogami cable for the jumper make sure that you look at the OD of the cable so it will fit your connectors, they sell many different types of connectors as well.

Good luck let me know how it turns out ok.
