TS-
I havee been using firmware 1.4.1vb or whtevs for a long time. My buddy wanted to get the latest firmware for his MT, cool I thought, Ill update mine too. so I did all the right steps, and after it was finished updating all the stuff, it didnt reset itself. noe the little bugger wont turn on by the wall AC, the usb from a computer or from my battery pack!
what to do! am I screwed with no hope? Im going to let it sit for a day or so and try to power it up tomarrow. I hope Im not screwed, but the taping gods are throwing me some crappy karma as of late.
edit: would a computer with spyware on it be anissue? I don't think it would, but who knows?

any ideas?

I take it that the over night charging thing did nothing?
Did you contact M-Audio support? That would be the first thing I would do.
Be sure to detail as much as possible about how and what happened... size of the CF card you used to upgrade, if the MT was on the charger etc... did it finish the upgrade and then prepared to reboot and then nothing... stuff like that.
good luck.

If it died simply by updating the firmware I believe they will replace it under warranty. That's what I've seen in the past with other users here and elsewhere. Tell them what card you were updating from. There was at least one card that performing the update from had killed two others units (M-Audio replaced both of their units).

That's what I'm talkin' about TS, right on!

Pick it, Pack it, Fire it up...
coolness! just talked with M-Audio, it'll be replaced! ;D

what kind of card/drive and size did you use for the update?

kingston elite pro 4g compact flash, which should be the trusty workhorse. Im a little freaked as to updating the firmware on the new card.

I'm still using 1.4.3. ;D
Until they come up with a 2gb fix(which they won't), I have no need to upgrade.
1.4.3 is solid.
Has anybody found a reason to upgrade firmware since 1.4.3, that has a any real purpose?
I transfer data from my MT on an external card reader, if that was going to be one of the upgrades that was good.
4 gigs transfer in about 8 minutes, via reader.

With this new firmware I do not need to press REC twice to start recording. For me there were more error messages using the old firmware - like media full or not the correct speed.

because i hit record twice and it started/stopped the file so fast it froze
otherwise i have had no issues ever so i am not sure i am going to update anytime soon

You don't have to push record twice with firmware 1.4.3 .

Hey I just thought of something. Not sure how old your unit is but if they are just swapping it out, presumably you'll get a new one with a fresh battery. Maybe worth the aggravation of having to swap it.

Died, died, my microtrack died
Drove my chevy to the levy but the levy was dry
Them good ole boys were drinkin whiskey and rye
Singin' this'll be the day my microtrack died.
Sorry. Hoping this will excise that song from my head whenever I see this..

It depends on your CF card. My original Kingston 45x card works without a glitch, as does my Hitachi microdrive. My newer Kingston 45x card (which I really was the same as the earlier Kingston card) probably at least half the time comes up with "Media Full" when I first press record, even though I've just formatted the card. Then I need to hit record a second time, and it all works fine -- no "Media Full" messages.
I'm still on 1.4.3. When I stop being lazy, I'm going to upgrade to 1.4.5, which I hope will stop the media full messages and allow me to record just be hitting the record button once.

yeah, My old kingston 4g 45x card records wikth just one hit, but my new kingston 4g 45x card always says media full so I hit record twice and it works, kind of funny. Hopefully when my new MT shows up, it wont die when I up the new firmware to it, lol

they should send you a brand new one, and it will have all the latest firmware on it. the reason i know this is because the exact same thing happened to me. i was uning the transend 8gb cf card though. they were rather nice about everything even got it shipped out sooner with a little sweet talking. +t for your troubles
