I ran the box last night for the first time.
And holy smokes! :o
That unit sounds nice! After running the MMe for some time I was worried that the A/D was not going to be up to snuff but it was way better than I expected. The pre sounds nice of course.
-
it's a great unit that is built like a tank, and is the perfect match for the schoeps, which I see you run, enjoy!!!!
-
Great sounding pre/ADC with the right mics - especially Schoeps! It just gets better and better...
-
Hehe...huddle up boys!!
Mike...I've been meaning to e-mail you about your clasical recordings recordings. I have really been digging the Beethoven!
Nice work!! ;D
On a related note to the topic at hand, though, the V3 does smoke when run with Schoeps. I will never run my tubes without it....
Dave

Glad you are enjoying that V3!

Thanks Phil!! ;D

i agree, nicely done guyz...i know ya'll prolly dont give a shit, but i like how the v3 soundz outside w/ the 480's, especially compared to the dmic 8)some of my fav tapes are 481>v3, just a sick, sick unit, and like creek said, built like a fuggin tank 8)thats while i'll be picking one up by xmas, hopefully!!!
-
Indeed. I decided to keep the mme and run v3->mme here in about three weeks I would guess. Beaner, how are the straight gefell->v3 tapes?
Daryan
-
I'm wonderin' the same thing Daryan said. I'm curious to see how M300>V3 would sound.
-
Bean those shows you sent me SMOKE!!!!! (480>V3) :headbang: I have been listening to the moe show over and over ;D
-
I can give you an idea...but with the mme behind it. We ran gefell 200/210->v3(bean)->mme(Daryan), both to dat.

Of course we care, Bean. Glad to hear you dig the combo. Get those recordings out to people so we can get more feedback from others - I'm kinda surprised given how many people don't like the AKG 48x > V2 combo.
And Moke, backatya:
Set of ADK TL's: $625
Set of Schoeps: $2200
V3: $1300
Making kick ass tapes low-pro FOB instead of getting booted back to the rear-most corner of the room, under the balcony, next to the huge beer bottle bin, behind the cement load-bearing support columns, just in front of the stanky bathrooms, and in the middle of a crowd of blathering inebriated boneheads: Priceless

I used it again tonight at Built To Spill and I love this thing! You may have to pry it from my dead cold fingers for me to give it up. I was going to maybe sell it down the road so that I could fund me a new SD 722 recorder when they came out but I may be using DAT for a while longer til they make a no frills HD box.

I've been using mine for 2 weeks now and HOLY shit!!!
I've never made tapes this clean and real sounding. I am really enjoying every aspect of the v3. easy to use, built like a tank, nice controls, and hella sound.
I've been usoing with an akg c422 and lemme say it ROCKS.
This mic is pretty heavy in the bottom and full of detail, and the v3 tightens up the bass perfectly, a little tooo much detail sometimes, but you gotta find the right SPOT.
I've heard lots of combos with this mic and the v3 IS my favorite...I could tell from the first tape ;D
