Title: Core Sound- Low-cost Binaural or Stealthy Cardioids?
Post by: harrisale on May 14, 2007, 07:54:21 PM
hey.

I've decided to purchase either the Low-cost Binaural Microphones or Low-cost Stealthy Cardioids but I'm not sure which to choose.

I am a beginner, with my 1st show coming up. This will be Rage Against the Machine, a large outdoor venue, where the crowd will be quite loud. Most of my future concerts will likely also be the same type of venue.

I am gonna need some stealth, but I have read that the Low-cost Binaural Microphones can also be quite stealthy.

what are the +/- of each, and which do you think would be the best for me.

thanx

FWIW, don't let the "stealth" in the name of the cardioids fool you...the mics are the exact same size.

I'd personally go for the binaurals, as I'm a much bigger fan of omnidirectional mics in stealth situations. Just my $.02.

I bought both of these mics when I first started out.  The Binurals sound better, but as an omni they will pick up more crowd and the bass could be a bit much at a show like rage.

The cards sound real nice, but the bass is not as impressive.  This could be a good thing for loud rock concerts.

I would recomend the cards in your situation.

I've decided to go with the Binauals with a bass-roll off battery box.
