Trying to install flac on my new vista machine. I cannot for the life of me get it to work. No matter what I do, no dice. I've tried all the workarounds for vista on the dowloads page for flac.
Can anyone help an idiot through this?
I REALLY HATE microsoft. Why can't this just work like it does on my mac? Oh well, help please :)

Well, I got the older version to work so I'll just keep it. Thanks though, Tommy. I'm gonna have to look at Traders Little Helper.

I'm not that far along. Hopefully roxio (what I have) will install. If not, well I might blow a gasket.

Install the 1.1.3a version on http://mikewren.com/page.php?2
Then go to here....and download the 1.1.4b standalone zip install.
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/flac/flac-1.1.4-win.zip?modtime=1171408499&big_mirror=0
Copy the flac.exe from the 1.1.4 zip folder into your installed Program Files/FLAC folder on your computer and overwrite.
Edit:
This is a link on FLAC about the Vista issue and a possible workaround. I could not get it to work the way it describes.

Install the FLAC Nero plugin manually. Instructions at bottom of page. Down FLAC link on that page.

Might be confused....this is to burn FLAC to Audio CD without decoding first. FLAC > Audio CD.
Are you having issues burning FLAC data discs?

Thanks Martin, got the 1.1.3 version working. Guess I'll try and upgrade to 1.1.4.
The workaround didn't work for me either.

Wow, I must say that I like Trader's Little Helper much much more than Flac Frontend.
