I'm looking around for an entry level turntable (Music Hall 2.1, Pro-Ject Debut, something around $300). I'd like to use my own cables to go from the turntable to the phono pre, but most of these tables have the cables attached.
Anyone have any recommendations for an entry level turntable where I can use my own cables?

as for using your own cables...I looked at the music hall, debut and p1/p2 and it is not an option (not even one with some of the budget AT tables I dont believe)
I would recommend the P1 in that price range. I had narrowed down to the debut and p1 and went with the p1 partly because of the reviews that are all glowing, rega's reputation in analog and the ease of use. I have not been disappointed. Table was extremely easly to setup and sounds fantastic. Also after about 50 hours I have noticed that the sound from the table has definitely smoothed out and it really is fun to listen to vinyl! I find myself pretty amazed by how much some vinyl sounds better than the CD counterpart...

The wire in the tonearm is the same wire that's used in the interconnects. Even if there were rca jacks on turntables (for interchangeable interconnects), the signal would still have to travel through the "stock" wire between the cartridge and the rca jacks. Upgrading cables on a turntable requires the tonearm be rewired as well. Entry-level tables aren't worth the time and effort.

Gotcha. Thanks for the PM too Chris. The Rega P1 is something on my "looking" list. Probably won't get any of this until the end of the year at earliest, but I like to plan ahead.

I highly doubt that. Look how different the gague of the tonearm wires are from interconnect wires. If you take the turntable apart you'll know for sure.
