I know these mics come inside those red and blue foam things you're supposed to put in your ear, but I was wondering if it's possible to take them out of the foam without damaging everything?
I mean - on the inside, do these look just like other typical binaurals (Core Sound, DPA, Giant Squid, etc.)?
Secondly, where's a good place to get these mics? I've Googled and Googled, but came up with very little — and lots of dead ends. I'd love to find a U.S. dealer, but it doesn't seem very promising at this point.
Thanks in advance.

of course u can take off the windscreens without damaging the mics.

Thanks a lot.
So do they basically look like this on the inside?

The reason I'd like to know is because I'm considering mounting them to glasses instead of using the in-ear method (they can't be very big).

Sorry to hi-jack, I'm interested in these too.
Anyone know of a UK site to get them and for a good price?

no ;)
the pic shows DPA 406x mics in my opinion.
I can tell you it´s a bad idea trying to mount OKMs to glasses....so forget it. ;)
use them in ear and don´t move your head for the whole show.

Good question. I was starting to get the impression that they've stopped manufacturing them, based on all the difficulty I've had locating stores that clearly mention having them in stock.

here the rock is available: German store

219 euros looks good even if in that range of price you might be able to pick up something better...

like the nice Sennheisers from MicMadness :)

I use my Soundman OKM II's in a Jecklin disc and they work great. They are in their little colored socks, not naked. 8)

yeah, you are right.
got the sennheiser one's and i am very satisfied.
in comparison to some tapes recorded with the okm's, the mm's are the better choice IMHO

I'm more and more convinced about this. Some users have pointed those mics are the best out there after the DPA 406x's (I mean concerning small stealth mics) and they have really a great price. Omni's are my option, but I don't hear nothing but good things about the cards aswell...(I'm also so tempted by the cards from Chris Church...we'll see how this ends, probably buying much more gear than I'll even use :))

You won't damage the mics, but maybe your ears as caps are star-shaped (with very sharp points!).
Also, caps tended to come off my ears all the time, so I had to insert them into a pair of cheap earphones. Much better.
