Title: Thoughts on Bias Peak LE 5 software for Mac?
Post by: tomac on May 31, 2007, 10:27:01 AM

Does anyone have an opinion on this product?  I would simply be using it for cleaning up live tapings and burning cd's.  The price seems right and some of the reviews I have read online seem to be pretty positive.

Thanks,

Tomac

There are free, or at least cheaper, programs that'll do what you want.

Not that Peak isn't a great app (it is), but you could save your cash.

I'll agree.  I use Sound Studio for the most part now.  Peak LE ticked me off in a couple of areas:

1)  Cannot make markers into regions
2)  Cannot batch export as individual tracks
3)  Cannot control quality of 48>44.1 resampling
4)  Draconian (for a less than $100 app) registration process.  In addition, I occasionally get weird errors telling me the app is already in use elsewhere and it shuts down.  Mind you, I have a legit version installed on a single machine.

There are others, but in general, I rarely use it now.  There is a trial of Sound Studio at freeverse.com...give it a go!

Another vote for Sound Studio here.

They give you a real healthy trial period.

I use Peak Pro 5.12 along with plug ins like ultramaximizer, it all works great, sorry that the above mentioned has happened to some, but i have not had any of those problems using peak pro.  Markers to regions - jsut fine, all others no problem

but like people say there is good freeware out there, in addition I do like Peak wiht the waves plug ins to clean up recordings

I use PEAK VST for over 6 year on my G4 with dual 833's.  Only problem I had they helped me with immediately and it was just a learning curve issue.
I know there are others, and that PEAK gets some bad game around here, but the above IS my opinion.
