Title: Temba: nbox and similar kit
Post by: DSatz on May 31, 2007, 05:24:00 PM
I'm new here--could someone please tell me what exactly an "nbox" is (a Web link to whoever makes and/or sells it would do fine), and if there are any other similar items for front end use with Schoeps "Colette" capsules?

Many thanks.

Nick Carbonetta builds/sells the nbox'es.  He's here.  PM him at "schoepsnbox".  PM me if you have trouble reaching him.

Oh, and the Nbox is a preamp + power supply.  It uses 4x 9v batteries, provides the 60v for the caps, includes a "kcy"-type cable that Nick builds, the Schoeps Collette connectors, gives you about +18db gain (fixed), and unbalanced rca outs.

Sonosax SX-M2/LS2, aka Lemosax, also works with Schoeps MK-x "collette" caps and active (KCY) cable.  And, I assume you know about the Schoeps VMS5U.

Many thanks (and my first ever +Ts! That's fun!) to both of you for the helpful replies. I'll get in touch with Mr. Carbonetta soon for further information. This sounds like a very useful item.

vms02ib is the old version of the vms5u (does m/s matrix on the fly as well but only accepts the 5-pin Binder plug which is what the active stuff is all based on).  Probably at least 1/2 the size, more stealthy.
