Title: 24 bit sound card with Vista compatibility?
Post by: faninor on June 11, 2007, 12:38:24 AM
I'm looking for a card to replace an external one that seems to have broken... looking on Newegg, I've found a few that might be good but I don't think there are drivers available for Windows Vista (right now I'm running XP Pro with SP2 but I might build a new computer within the next year). I'm looking for something to handle 24 bit, 96kHz or greater playback... 5.1 or 7.1 surround output, and I'd prefer something that has an optical spdif input (for connecting to an old minidisc deck). Also in the future I may want to plug in a turntable and transfer some vinyls that I have from independent bands. Here are pages for a few:

Does anyone have experience with any of these cards, or suggestions for other cards I should be looking at?

Thanks!

The HT Omega Claro's are suppost to perform nicely. I read a review that spoke decent of it. It is Vista compatible too I think. I haven't personally used one, but I bet a nickel it is bit-perfect.

Thanks! I wonder what the real difference between the Claro and the Claro Plus+ is... in the specifications the only thing I see listed in Plus+ that isn't in the standard is "AD 8620 BR Opamp" on the output of the Plus+... other than that they seem basically identical.
