Title: Iriver H10
Post by: darktrain on June 21, 2007, 06:28:17 PM
Heres a question, I see that you can rockbox a iriver h10 but i can find anyone or subject on this model here in the forums and how they work, so are they reliable or just harder to use than the H120 or H320?
Just wondering why no one uses them.

I don't think the H10 can record.  Rockbox doesn't have to be for recording specifically.  It was designed because some stock firmwares just suck altogether and the creators wanted to make things better for the people using the devices.  AFAIK only the H1XX and H3XX series can record WAV.

Also, the only input it has is a built-in microphone for voice recording.

Also, the H10 is based on the portalplayer chip (just like ipods), which is undocumented.
Due to this, rockbox control the hardware 100% the way it should, resulting in bad batterylife compared to the original firmware.

The Sansa (from sandisk) is a new target that is gaining recording capabilities, but due to hardware design mistakes, there is interference from the LCD on the recording. Yes, what a design error :)

With an H10 you only have line in to record if you use a cradle...which is not too useful in a concert  :) A guy at Misticriver built a cable so you can record easily, but he disappeared...

Anyway, being not a recorder, I own one of those and it's easily the best mp3 player I've had, I'm love with the thing (tiny, great sound, beautiful)...I even haven't installed rockbox, it works very good with the stock firmware.
