Title: DVD-A with DVD Audiophile
Post by: grayp on June 24, 2007, 07:29:52 PM
Is there a way to control the gap between tracks?    I upgraded to vista and can no longer use my old copy of wavelab (even though I never burned a dvd-a with it).   I finally tracked out a show from last week and made a dvd-a using dvd-audiophile.

when i throw the dvd-a in, it sounds great but there is a small gap between tracks.   it was a toshiba dvd player.

So since this is the first time I have used sound forge and the first time I've made a dvd also, I'm curious where the gap came from.

I'm guessing it could come from
1. My tracking process in SF ( I pretty much cut and pasted the tracks into new 24 bit wav files like I did with wavelab).
2. The dvd-a software or something I didn't set right when creating the ISO.
3. Perhaps, my dvd player puts gaps in on playback.   I know I've got another DVD a around here but can't find it and don't remember if it had gaps or not.

I don't have any blank cds, but I"ll probably go grab  some tomorrow and see if i dither and burn it, if it will have gaps as CD audio.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Gray

there are no gaps in the disc it makes.  so your player must be the problem

On the other hand, when other programs are used to make the DVD-A, they reputedly play back without gaps.

I'm not saying that DVD-Audiofile is the problem.  I'm just saying that it must do something different than other programs because the other programs reportedly make discs that play gaplessly in a a Toshiba deck.

Some people on here have guessed that it may be the fact that the other programs create a slideshow, even if it's just a single default picture.

seems that it is my player.   took it over to a friends house last night and no gaps.

I can confirm that discwelder has created DVD-As that play back without gaps.  One of my players is a Toshiba and it has no issues.  Friends have not reported any either.  However, that Toshiba has had gaps on some disks that others gave me.  Can't say what they were created with.
