Title: I can't get a clean transfer! (Mac)
Post by: Mic D on October 29, 2003, 12:22:53 PM
I'm using Sound Studio w/ a vx pocket in OSX and for some reason I can't get a decent transfer. It sounds fine for the most part but every now and then there's an occasional "skip/hiccup". I have the buffer set to the highest setting for the vx pocket (I can't seem to find the buffer setting in Sound Studio). I never have any other applications running while I'm transferring so I don't know what the problem could be. Is it my RAM or something? Any help is appreciated.

Kevin

BTW, I'm transfering with a G4 PowerBook.

I'm using 10.2.8. Where do I change my energy saver settings? Thanks for the help thus far.

I just checked my energy saver settings and it's set to 'Automatic'. While in 'Automatic', the "Put the HD to sleep when possible" setting is in effect. Do I want this or should I set it to 'Highest Performance' where it never goes to sleep?

i am running 10.2.8 also, and i have my g3 set so that the hd and screen never go into sleep mode

what are you transferring from...i was having similar issues transferring direct from my d8 to the ap2496. seems my d8 heads were out of alignment. paul at progigital fixed it and now transfers are clean. i would suspect that if transfering from a portable, it would be important to get a check up on the unit every so often to get everyting back to factory..

Definitely "Highest Performance". If it goes to sleep, there's the hiccup in your recording. Make sure your monitor never goes to sleep either, and turn off your screen saver too. It's kind of a pain to change it all back if you're not transferring stuff, but it beats having a transfer screwed up. :P

Thanks yall, +T. I always thought it was sketchy when the screen fades out. I'll try it again.

BTW Chris, I'm using a DA-20mkII for my transfers.
