Hey ya'll,
I am in the beggining stages of looking for a new laptop and figured I would solicite your help. I have been using an HP zv5000 for the past few years and have had no real big issues. I use Adobe Audition for editing and would like to stay witha PC to avoid buying all new programs. I definately want to upgrade to something with a 24bit sound card and one reason I am leaning toward another HP is because their docking station has a coax out which I could connect direct to my Amplifier.
Any suggestions on computers that come stocked with a 24bit sound card or good soundcards that could be put into a new HP?
What are some issues people have been having with Vista working with Bit Torrent & FLAC? Is there any real big advantage to moving to Vista or should I just stay with XP?
If you wanted to get a new laptop what would it be and why?
Just trying to see if there are concerns I am missing and love to see what others are thinking.
Thanks,

Thanks for the input. I did a search on Sony computers with DSD and found nothing. I then compared the Viao with an HP, same memory same RAM and the Sony runs about a grand more. What are the specifics of why you would want a Viaos?
With a 24bit sound card why would something with DSD be better?

They announced back in mid 2005 they were going to start adding blu-ray/dsd to there viao line. You gotta remember Sony owns the rights to DSD so there trying to push another format that they cant seem to get off the ground. Such as blu-ray.
Buying a sony would be a bad Idea IMO. There stuff is WAY over priced for what you get and there support sucks BAD. Oh and add to it they are known for making proprietary parts for everything they make.
If your not tech friendly I would suggest a HP/compaq, dell or gateway.
Edit to add: STAY WITH XP. I have a lappy that came with vista but after about 3 weeks just put xp-pro back on the other day.

Cool thanks Nick. I did some further searching last night and it seems that HP is the most cost effective way to go. You seem to get the most memory and highest speeds for your buck.
Can anyone suggest a good 24 bit sound card?
