Title: IRIVER distortion on playback w/ head phones
Post by: waltmon on July 12, 2007, 03:51:50 PM
I have been testing my H120....nothing serious, just using the headphone out of the laptop into the 3.5mm stereo in,some current live WSP. Plan on using it as a back-up device and to listen to complete shows in wav format while driving.

I am noticing distortion when I listened w/ headphones, but sounds fine played into the Aux in on our home stereo. I would guess that the line out is hot for the headphones...Am I missing a setting on the playback?   They are pretty nice Audio Technica phones.

could it be you plugged your headphones into "line-out" instead of the headphone jack on the iriver?
if plugged in correctly, check your equalizer sound settings.

do you have any sound enhancements enabled on the iriver (bass/trebble boost, EQ)?

I got told some sound distortion (on playback, when using EQ) popped up again lately, they are still investigating.
Also, it can be the levels you send to the headphone are too high?

And what is the fact that you recorded from a headphone-out got to do with the issue? Does it work fine when recording from another source?

Best check the recorded file on PC to see what's up with it?

...Yep, I had the headphones in the line out ::)

I was just saying I was running some initial tests with some edited files as my source so I was pretty sure the signal I was sending was clean.

Thanks
