>:D

looks pretty.
would hate to roll tubes in them though....yikes!
-
you still intested in the ysa-100s? chui's 300b p-p looks sweet ;D
-
indeed.
I love anything Y-S audio

230 watts in >> 1.5 wpc out ! ;D
I'll bet it's clean, but don't expect bass slam with a peak of 4 watts per channel.
My N0rh SE-9 drove me crazy with it's "wup" bass. (only on certain material)
Although it did sound mighty sweet and did some soundstage tricks that the KT-90s don't do as well.
I wouldn't go low-power again, however.
I do like the use of toroids.
My next tube amp will have toroids....

I'd do it with speakers like Avantgarde Horns or Coincident speakers. If you have speakers that have sensitivity over 100db/w/m you are usually pretty good with lower powered amps though I would probably want a few more watts for the music I listen to. 4+ is fine with the proper speakers. I've been interested in hearing what the Total Eclipses sound like with some of the flea powered SET amps.

the zu cable speakers are also super efficient!

Hi,
Apparently, this amp sounds super sweet w/the Hornshoppe horns (the speakers I own). Ed's forum has some real interesting comments on this amp. http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/index.php?topic=38877.0
Per Ed, the low end is unreal....not confined like many SET amps.
Good luck

interesting.
those dam'd HS horns intriege me greatly...especially driven w/something like this, or a sophia or something.
i'm still so in love w/my system that I'd have to build a 2nd system for the office (12x23)
hmmmmmmmm.
-
nick,
the horns would work great in that office of yours. However, I STRONGLY advise you to include Ed's "cube" (sub) to the mix. I ran the horns sans sub for 2 years. I added the "cube" and realized I was missing half the picture.
PS: Caught about 2 hours of RockyGrass last weekend (the kids went too). It was damp and dark up in Lyons on Friday, but the music was fine! Peter Rowan pulled out a sweet and low version of Cold Rain and Snow. Perfect.

Ed is a funny guy ;D

I actually have some more things to pick up for the "main system" before I can start on a 2nd.
-
Nick,
I realize that they may be rich for your blood (wallet) with all those tapers in training you have running about but you should really try to check out thje Coincident line. They are some of the most sensitive cone spears out there. While horns have their place I have never (in my limited testing) found one that has the slam needed for live tapes. Keep in mind my previous post was mainly directed at my other listening material, Classical and chamber music. Where horns and flea watt amps excel.

I've drooled over them before.
as well as an Avant Garde "duo" setup.
I"m happy right now w/my 6' panels and giant SS monoblocks.
:)
ain't no fleas on me.
