Hi all,
This is the first poll I post, so don't kick me too hard! :-*
I didn't list CD Wave, since my understanding is that it's mainly used before the actual editing and postproduction. It would skew the results to have it as an alternative, since pretty much everyone split their files.
I also didn't list software that is mainly used for resampling or analyzing, but doesn't have any editing functions beyond that.
If you use any particular plugins or tools besides the listed, I'm curious to hear about them.
Cheers,
Jan

Other: Wave Editor <http://audiofile-engineering.com/wave_editor.php> but then I'm on Mac OS X, so a lot of the tools you listed don't work for me. I also use Peak (or have, but haven't used it in quite some time).
As far as plug-ins go, I use Waves and iZotope Ozone 3 for 99.9% of my stuff.
Before my stuff gets to stereo, I use Digital Performer to do my mastering.

Oops, sorry! I didn't research all options well enough! Good of you to mention them anyway.
Maybe this could lay the grounds for a small FAQ outlining the pros and cons of the common editing software?!

While not really a pros and cons of the software, there is the sticky message about where to find certain pieces of software, that includes a lot of links to these types of tools.

Excellent idea! And thanks for volunteering. :) When do you plan on having the first draft of the FAQ completed?

Just start a TEAM POST and funnel all the software wrangling questions, rants and tips to there... eventually an FAQ will evolve if there's enough participation.
Funny sunjan didn't include Pro Tools as an option ;)
Yeah, my bad... I'm a bit out of touch, esp. with the Mac side, so I completely forgot about it.
Hmm, coming up with an FAQ draft - it'll take some time.
For at start, I'd let all you smart guys come up with ideas what aspects to include. So if I start a team thread for this, what should I call it then?

Thanks everyone who voted so far!
Yeah, I found a bewildering lot of software on wikipedia when researching the poll:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_audio_editor
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Audio_editors
So I thought there's no point listing all, I just mentioned the ones that keep popping up in the info.txt files. So yes, I didn't see that many entries featuring Pro tools ;-)
What next? I just go ahead and start at thread called "TEAM Audio Editors FAQ" in the teams subforum? ???

Peak if i don't need any DSP
Nuendo if i need to EQ, edit, etc etc.
always track using Peak 4 though. I would love it if CDWave was available for Mac
