I am not looking for mics for myself but I am looking for a friend of mine who is in a band. They play "rock" (i.e. The Band, Dead). He is looking for an easy setup. I was thinking some At853's but I wanted to get some info from people who really know whats going on. He didnt say anything about how much he would like to spend but I am thinking not too much. Please dont say "get a jb3/iriver/etc..." because they are set on using the Boss Micro....

That setup comes with everything you'd need to make a recording since you already have a recording device.
They usually play in smaller venues/clubs/bars. Would these mics need the preamp/battbox to work with this particular recorder?
