I stealthed Alice Cooper in a large hotel ballroom with very high ceilings and the mix position was way in the back against the wall. I was about 20 feet ahead FOB, but the room acoustics were not great. Using SP-CMC-8 cards.
Sample on Dime:

I have more concerts coming up there and am wondering if I am better off just getting in front of one of the L/R mains by the stage. The sound is flown (up in the air) with the subs on the floor. I want to try an capture as little of the "boomyness" of the hall as possible.
Thoughts?
There's another version of the show on Dime, not sure where that taper was, but I don't know him. I had a DAT taper near me that I do know, but unsure what his rig was. Cool having so many tapers stealthing in a small market like Green Bay, Wisc.

Hey, it's me! I was about 20 feet directly in front of the left stack. This is my tape: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=159280. People here can compare the two. I don't have as good of equipment as Belexes here, but it sounds good to me for what I paid for it. (WM-61A>ihp-120 :P I need to fix my battery box.)

Hello! I think I may go in front of the stack at the next show and see what happens. With cardoids, I think it makes sense to be closer to the sound source in a large hall versus omni's.

ORTF
I found that it's touch to stealth and get ORTF unless I MacGyver a shirt with a collar on it, which I may do. I don't like putting the mics on my head in a hat or croakies because any movement results in phasing issues.

My mics were in my shirt. I was a little out of place at an Alice Cooper concert with a collared shirt on :-X, but I think it's the best way.
