my cousin just bought one of those as his mp3 player
told him to rockbox it and i'll be testing it at an open air show on sunday along with my church audio set
ill record some tracks with my iriver h320 and others with the iaudio just to compare both units
will post the results 8)
cheers
dan
2 reasons I didn't buy it:
- needs the sub-pack attached for line-in connection
- bigger gain steps - this is the main reason there's no AGC-safety on them...
have fun!

those were the reasons i didnt buy it myself too peter
but as my cousin wont use it for taping, its ok
i didnt find much info about the x5 as a wav recorder, thats why ill give it a try
some people might have one as mp3 players and are afraid of using it as a recorder
as i said, will upload samples on sunday if all goes well ;D
thought it couldnt record WAV?
Voice recording:
64-128 Kbps MP3
Line-in recording:
64-320 Kbps MP3
I was interested in one as it could play FLAC

as Arni said, with rockbox it can record uncompressed WAV..
rockboxing it will also allow you to play gapless FLAC files ;)
cool!
