Title: JB3 Creative Playcenter and Vista
Post by: Benny on September 25, 2007, 10:26:01 PM
Just got a new laptop that has Vista on it. I have a bunch of recordings on my JB3 and I'm trying to find out if anyone knows a way I can connect it to the PC ???  I've searched Creative's website and can't find a version of Playcenter that works with Vista. Anyone know a way I can connect my JB3 to my computer?

Thanks in advance

Sorry to say but I never found a way and had to use my mac before I got rid of my NJB3. The only way is to go back to XP unless some one writes drives for Vista. Good luck and +t for your troubles.
Peace

there's a way if you're only recording with it. use creative explorer:

http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=213&nRegionFK=&nCountryFK=&nLanguageFK=&sOSName=Windows+XP&region=1&Product_Name=NOMAD+Jukebox+3&Product_ID=296&modelnumber=&driverlang=1033&OS=10&drivertype=0&x=26&y=6

Creative NOMAD Explorer (Version 3.01.10) (11.22 MB) in this page. i tried it in my laptop and it worked. all you have to do is find your file in My Computer. i think the old XP drivers work at some extent in windows vista, so don't forget to install them.

I posted the following to the same question on the Yahoo Groups NJB3 Tapers forum:
-
Try going and loading the following items from the Creative Support Website:

http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=213&nRegionFK=&nCountryFK=&nLanguageFK=&sOSName=Windows+XP&region=1&Product_Name=NOMAD+Jukebox+3&Product_ID=296&modelnumber=&driverlang=1033&OS=10&drivertype=0&x=22&y=12

Drivers:

2) Certified Windows XP drivers for Creative NOMAD Jukebox 2,3, Zen
and Zen USB 2.0, Version 1.20.04c

This will updated your PC drivers for USB and Firewire to
recognize/detect the NJB3.

Applications:

6) Creative NOMAD Explorer (Version 3.01.10)

This application allows you to bypass installing or using the
PlayCenter software that came with your NJB3. I use this software
myself and I'm very happy with it.

I don't run Vista but this is a good starting point to get the NJB3 to
sync with your PC.

Curious to see if this helped to get the NJB3 recognized by Vista?

i downloaded nomad explorer no problem. however, i tried installing both drivers located on creative's website and i kept getting error problems that they weren't installed correctly. it tried finding a driver online but was unable to and kept telling me to insert the cd that came with it. any other ideas guys?

thanks again

try uninstalling nomad explorer and deleting the directory from your drive

reboot

install the drivers first

then install nomad explorer again

followed crumbo's directions and still had problems. after installing the driver and then explorer, i connect the jb3 and a pop-up window comes up and says windows needs to install driver software. after choosing the 'let windows find it' option, it comes back unable to locate driver and it says to insert the cd that came with the jb3 ???
