Sunday morning coffee, listening to a killer tape and perusing the audio boards - life is good :)
I came on these links to cheap/free tweaks that I thought were interesting.

Just for starters,
Brass mounting screws make any cartridge sound better
sounds like it's beyond the limits of my ears :P

Are you saying you can hear the different metals used in cart mounting screws?

meh, I guess. Since they are free or very cheap I didn't think they'd be too controversial. Many ar ejust related to vibration reduction, is that controversial?

I think he was just saying the first tweak should be cleaning ones ears,
not specifically yours and not commenting on metals used in mounting scews

Aha, gotcha.
Hmm, maybe I should invent "Audiophile Cotton Swabs" ;D

I wonder if that is recommended because brass is non-magnetic. A cartridge uses magentic components to convert mechanical energy into electricity.

I posted/tried these a while back, and iirc, one of the ones that made a huge difference in the sound of my system was sitting lower. I sat on the floor, and I thought it sounded much better. I proceeded to acquire a bean bag seat that can be tossed into the sweet spot when necessary. I highly recommend this free tweak.

I've tried the sitting lower and it definitely works. I picked up some cedar blocks today, 20 for $8. Figure I'd slide em under my components and see if I heard a difference.

Hell, I've needed an excuse to get a bean bag anyway, it's been 20 years or so ;D

that guy will send you a free sample of his "rainbow electret foil"...covers around 20 cds??
Free is always in the budget, and that one is far too genius to turn down.....
