Hi everybody. I bought myself an Edirol R-09 this week and used it last night for my first show. For the first 60 minutes the recording is fine. Then the last 30 minutes the sound is as on the attached mp3 clip. I am usign a 4GB Kingston Elite Pro SD card. Anybody seen this fault before or have any idea what it could be? I have a few shows coming up and if this is the performance of the R-09 then I think I'll just stick with MD where I can at least get a listenable recording!

Well obviously something is wrong with your R-09, that section is looping, so the recorder has obviously got messed up...I assume it does that for 30 min?

I just rang Edirol. They asked me to look at the SD card. I am using a Kingston Elite Pro SD card. They said something about these cards being formatted for speed and sometimes the R-09 has problems with these SD cards. They advised me to get an HCSD card which the R-09 should be able to cope with as they are designed for high capacity files. So I guess that answers my question. I am surprised nobody else here seems to have come across this. I can't find anything on it.

Interesting, I entertained for a moment a card issue, but assumed that if the R-09 wrote crap onto it for 30 munites then the card must be OK :)
I haven't heard of this issue before. However if you get a replacement then of course do some experiments...I am using basic 1 and 2 Gig SanDisk cards FWIW.

Hi,
Yeah I've bought myself a Sandisk 4GB SDHC card now so hopefully that will sort the issue. What came out sounded nice though.
Cheers

Sandisk 4GB SDHC
That is what I use and have no issues with it.

I'm using a Sandisk 4gb SDHC Ultra II and I haven't had a problem in the three months I've used my R-09. I usually format it after I dump the files. Hope you get it cleared up. rWc3523 8)
