Title: schoeps sg20 alternatives
Post by: Shawn on October 22, 2007, 03:11:23 PM
any one know of any nice low priced alternatives to the sg20 mic clips. The sg20 is the mic clip not the a20,which are the shock mounts. I'm thinking of building a smaller style stereo bar (like a vark bar) utilizing a single shock mount and mic clips instead of two shock mounts, but I rather not shell out $70 for a couple of mic clips to get it done.

Shawn - the Octava MC012(?) mic clips work and I have two extras sitting at home. I'll send them to you.  PM me your address..and you can buy me a drink next time I see you again.

heres what i use with the sg-20's, I'm sure you could do the same with the octava clips, provided the outer diameter of the threaded portion isnt over 20mm. I have the 20mm bar stock for the middle piece that i can send to anyone who needs it, just send me an sase mailer

thanks for the link to the pic jerryfreak. can you get a true din or ortf setup if you are running full bodies? if so that is pretty sweet.

Overall that setup is pretty similair to what I had in mind, but I was thinking of ofsf etting the height of the clips relative to each other so the mics have enough clearnace that they can cross over each other.
