Go to the nomad site and you will see where you can upgrade your firmware.
Plug your jb3 up and upgrade.
Its really easy.

why do i want to upgrade the firmware...what is firmware?

You might not need to.
Go to your Jukebox settings and the top field it should tell you what version you have.
The latest is 1.32.
It gives you volume levels and other stuff that you dont have to have but help.

Firmware is basically software. Upgrade firmware contains things like new drivers for devices (JB3 hard drive, for example), functionality enhancements like level meters, etc. Check out the Archival Info section JB3 Info thread for some links to JB3-dedicated sites which can tell you what new functionality is available with each firmware release, which releases are stable, which aren't, etc.

I believe that in order to change the record levels on the NJB3, you need to update the firmware... if you are running optical in, and control the record level from an outboard source, I would think that it is unnecessary...
