When we playback laptops or iPods through our 5.1 system, we hook up a 3.5mm>RCA cable. On some songs, such as Whole Lotta Love and Strawberry Fields Forever, we cannot hear some of the instruments. On WLL it's the guitar solo, and on SFF it's the mellotron at the beginning. These are not the only tunes it happens to. What's going on?

try reversing the phase of the mains.
sounds to me like you have phase issues.

The Beatles used a lot of hard stereo panning, so it could be you're only hearing one channel, but played through both loudspeakers.

Double check the 3.5mm to RCA cable and make sure it is a double ring stero cable (on the 3.5mm side) and not a single ring mono cable... also make sure it is plugged in all the way.

+T for everybody. We looked at the cable, and it turned out to be defective. Thanks everyone.
