so im trying to break old habits here and not use soundforge. plus its not setup on my new pc so i need to learn this w/ wavelab anyway.....
i keep having one problem, the recordings all stop transferring around 30min into it. im running coaxial out of the 7 pin> M-audio 192 pci card>wavelab. ive checked all the settings in the record section but nothing seemed wrong except the file size which i changed to the max size. otherwise im stumped. :-\
im spoiled with the r4 and usb transfers. glad the DAT transfes are far and few between. ;)

the R4 resamples on the digital input.. just a fwiw

what? really? so if you run digi-in at a show at 24/96, then it resamples to 44.1k ??? doesnt make much sense to me ???

no it allows you to choose what sample rate, so just choose the same and it makes no sonic difference. i do wish i could record it direct to wavelab from the dat deck though. keep that chain as pure as possible, the use of the r4 seems like an unnecessary step. i guess i might have to revert to SF after all. ive transferred hundreds of tapes w/ SF & this sound card without issues in the past. ive gotta have a dependable coax interface w/ my machine for future stuff, that works longer than 30min.

'keep that chain as pure as possible' -- it would seem to me that removing the soundcard from the equation would keep the chain as pure as possible. there are many soundcards that aren't 'pure' and do all sorts of resample. the usb transfer from the R4 is as pure as it gets, you are simply relying on the device which you use to record with, no brainer in my opinion.
to get back to your question, do you have wavelab setup to record in 30min splits. it seems like you have an option chosen, which cue's a timer in wavelab to turn off.

To follow up with what Todd said, when you hit the record button and the box pops up, uncheck everything on the left side. If everything is unchecked you shouldn't need to mess with the settings tab on that page.
