This will do 16/44.1 pcm as well as mp3, records 8 hours on a AAA battery, and has a jack for an external mic. 8GB memory.  Looks to be under 2 oz. and 4.7 inches long.

Mp3 recording limited to 128kbps.  Still, nice form factor.

Who cares, you can record in WAV. 

BUT, the frequency responce is only 40-20.  Not bad, but not up to par...

Just for the record, Sanyo also had a precursor launched March 2007 with only 2GB, but otherwise similar specs:
