Title: Studio Projects C4
Post by: Cheesecadet on November 10, 2007, 12:28:29 AM
Hey all, I just thought I would pass a little info along to the C4 users out there.  I talked with Brent Casey (the mic designer/ I believe that was his name) the other day about differences between the original C4s and the new version.

You may find it interesting that he said that sonically you would not be able to tell the diffreence in sound quality between the two for shows that most on this board record.

He said he designed the new version for a close friend who records opera divas close micing in an essentially silent environment.

Basically he lowered the noise floor a bit, but he said you would not hear any difference in a bar or theatre where there is a chatty crowd between tunes or the SPL levels are high.  I think he also added a high pass filter to the mic in addition to the pad the original version had.

For live concert recording like the type of shows that many go to on these boards, he said you would not be able to tell a difference.

Just thought some would be interested in that...from the horse's mouth as they say  :coolguy:
