Like the rest of you, I have a doohickey on the top of my stand with standard microphone threads. The simplest thing is obviously an an adapter for the those threads that covert it to 1/4-20. Somebody makes these, right?
FWIW, I don't plan on putting my camera on the stand, I want to use it for off-camera flash.

Yes. B&H may have them. Can't recall if there's a direct 5/8" female > 1/4"-20 male, or if you need to go 5/8" > 3/8" and then 3/8" > 1/4".

I do this all the time, you can find a direct adapter on B&H.

nice to have all of the adaptors. use the 1/4 on my 3373 stand for a mono pod or tri pod. ed

I use this guy for my small digicamera:

For Mics I use:

And for 5/8" mics add in "Bomiba":

Like &etc I use the 3/8" quick release and a 3/8" to 5/8" adapter. I think that my adapter has 1/4" on one side and 3/8" on the other. It was convenient enough that I just bought two of them so I always had a spare.

Thanks for the replies, everybody
I didn't know exactly the size thread I needed and I was avoiding going to B&H "blind" because of the current holiday madness. BTW, for any of you in the area, B&H has just turned the 2nd floor into the main showroom. There's a little more breathing room now.
