Post by: vegeta_ban on November 22, 2007, 05:08:21 PM
I need help,
When I turn on my computer it asks for me to log in, after i do that it shows my desktop background, but does nothing else. I cant do theh ctrl-alt-delete thing to see whats going on. The laptop just sits there. Any Idea of whats wrong? :'(
If it helps the computer froze before all this happened.

Shut it down.  Wait 15 minutes, reboot and select the "safe" mode option.  See what happens in that mode.  It will probably work.  Could be a bad driver.  When my XP gets ugly that is what I do.  Then I reboot normally and all is well.  The PC fairies fix it, I guess.  I sure do not know.  8)

Nah, usually you can get data back unless a drive fails.
There are some very slick tools even when Windows is totally hosed... ask any Linux geek
We all should back-up our data on a second drive or some storage system.
Thanks for the reminder, it's been a while since I have...
