Anyone have any experience with this mic?

It is a large diameter condenser, so is it still good for recording shows?
I found a great price on one of these with a case and a shockmount....
How would I power this, if I did buy it?

Indeed needs P48
I have used them in a studio situation and think you would find it makes great stereo recordings. The Card/Figure8/Omni switch and HP filter would give you some flexibility there too.

The B2 Pro is a very nice mic, if you can't make a decent recording with one something is wrong.
Power?...another reason to get a MixPre :)

some good recordings (to my ears) on the archive below. I may get a pair to roll blumlien from time to time with 4 mic mixes. At $125 a mic, can't go wrong.

I don't know what blumlien....and four mics sounds scary....
I am just starting and haven't really got my first mics yet....
How would I power a pair of these? I know it needs p48...but how? a ps2?

Yes a Denecke ps2 will work. There are a bunch of preamps with phantom power you could use also.

Blumlien is a microphone technique that uses two Fig-8 mics, crossed at 90 degrees. It can be a very good mic configuration in the right scenario, but that scenario often doesn't overlap with the scenarios that we "tapers" generally find ourselves in. However, given the right scenario, it can be a great way to run the mics.

there are many ways to provide phantom power to mics. A Denecke PS-2 is certainly a viable option, although not the only. A big question is what gear you are planning to run behind the mics. Outboard pre-amp? or straight to an all-in-one recorder? most outboard pre-amps will also provide phantom power. but without a budget, it's hard to recommend something. a Beyer MV-100, a Sound Devices MP-2, or an Edirol UA-5 would all be on the cheaper side of things, Aerco MP2, Lunatec V2 or V3, Neve Portico 5012, Sonosax SX-M2, etc, etc, etc all provide phantom power as well. Because you're getting started and looking at less expensive mics, my guess is that you'd also be looking for other cheaper options as well. but maybe you're also thinking about going straight into a recorder and using the deck's internal pre-amp and A/D converter. a recorder like the Edirol R09 does NOT provide phantom power, while something like the Fostex FR2LE or the Marantz PMD-660 or PMD-671, Tascam HD-P2, or Sound Devices 722 could all provide phantom power and you wouldn't need any other outboard gear.
the pre-amps and decks listed above have a wide range in price, quality, and size.
What I'm getting at is without an idea of your budget, and without an idea of what other gear you're looking at or considering, its hard to make a good recommendation.

You summed up a lot in that one post...
I currently own an R-09 and would like to build a little beginner rig based around that...
However long term I am looking at the Marantz 671 but I also like the look of the Tascam HD-P2...the 702/722 look incredible(these are on the looong term...)
As far as mics... I have my dads Nak Cm300's w/ cardiod caps...I think they have shotguns as well but I am still not sure what that is and I dont have the mics in front of me to inspect them....maybe I will tonight)
As far as long term on the mics...I have listened to a few archive shows....probably 20 or so...and so far I am liking the Neumann sound I like the km184's and the km140's...I really like the km184s but the sound seems to vary a lot between different shows and rigs...(of course I know)....but I think the Km 140's have that great sound more consistently....the 140's sound a little warmer maybe?
But I still have to look around at different kinds...a few I will be looking at this evening will the some AKG's and some Earthworks....
But as far as my beginner rig is concerned I want to stay within maybe the $500 to $750 range with $1000 at the absolute most? I already have the R-09 but would be open to a plan that includes selling it...

Hate to say it, but Neumann/AKG/Earthworks is way out of the picture on a $1000 max budget.
You could sell your R-09, buy the Busman PMD-660 in the YS (http://taperssection.com/index.php/topic,93347.0.html) and a pair of pair of the Behringers or similar for about $850, less whatever you get for the R-09.
AHHH! The 660 is down to $500. DO IT.

To clarify the Neumann and Earthworks reference was for a long term rig....that budget for that is still holding strong at $3000....
This rig is $1000 MAX...
