I am using the bogen superclamp, then the standard stud> then how does the extension pole attach to the stud? It seems that the extension pole has one screw at the bottom and it goes over the stud, but when i tighten the screw of the extension pole to the stud it seems to leaver an impression type dent on the stud--is this normal?

add this Bogen 2918 standard stud w/ European Threading at top $5.95
and mount this Bogen 3369 extension arm $38 that goes up to 92 inches

Looking at the picture, the stud goes hex side down the hole in the front. You have to unscrew the small twist on the front right and then push in the pin on the top and drop the stud in the hole. then tighten the extension to the stud

yes that is true the extension fits right over the stud, but the extension pole has only one srew to hold it to the stud, and when i screw the pole to the stud--it does make an impression dent ( notch mark) on the stud--is this expected wear on the stud.

agreed but when i tighten the extension to the stud, it does leave an impression like mark on the stud ( stress mark)--is this normal?

Not sure. I, myself, wouldn't worry about marking up the stud.

FWIW, this happens to all my studs with both the SuperClamp and the Rapid Adapters. I eventually have a ring of impressions around the base of the stud. IME, once making the initial impressions, they don't get any deeper / worse.
