A call to a few guitar shops/music stores/places that rent gear in your town might drum up someone handy with a soldering iron that would do it for a few bucks.

Problem is I can't get the solder to take, the wires have a red tint to them and the shielding melts.

Neutrik has solderless XLR connectors for folks like you and me.  I use 'em.  I asked a local pro, he uses them, too.

Solderless Neutriks here.  I love 'em.  The wires are firmly held.  If I can crank out cables any other damned fool can.  Normies can do it easily.  Making them yourself is quick, easy and cheap.  I do not know about right angle.  I did not see them listed at Markertek.
