Title: Tascam CD-RW5000
Post by: NOLAfishwater on December 09, 2007, 02:44:56 PM
My buddy just gave me a Tascam CD-RW5000 w/ wired remote that has cd tray that won't open or close. It looks a bit dated but was wondering if it is even worth trying to get it fixed.

Here is an article about it:

looks like it would need to be matched up with a good A/D converter b/c the internals are not all that great. However, this thing might be great for coverting old tapes to CD's. I am sure it would take a bit less time that using the PC. Guess I could run it at shows where I can use house power and run the SPDIF line out of my V3 into it and at the same time, run the optical out of the V3 into my JB3 so that I can have a master unedited copy and be able to provide the band with a copy of the show right there on the spot.

These are good units.  I've been using a 2000 for about 4 years and it's a great recorder.  Never used a 5000, but I'd have to think it's equally as good, if not better.
IMO, it's definitely worth repairing the tray.

thanks for the input. Guess I will have to bring it to a local tech shop.
