I have heard that they are good for home studios... have no idea how they would work for taping though...

Does anyone use any other large diaphram condenscer mics for taping (such as the Rode NT1)?  What are the advantages of a large diaphram mic?  Good for small venues, relatively close to the stax?

Peace-
Pfife

I used the MXL 1006BPs for a while, they don't require phantom due to a 9v battery and a dc-dc converter used to provide phantom.  Very nice especially for the price,  they use the same capsule as ADKs and Studio Projects mics.  Their freq. response is modeled after the AKG C-12 which is super sweet.

and

are both recorded with the MXLs.  I have another recording but I can't seem to find the link.  They really rock for the price, and hold their own against much more expensive mics up to about the $900/pair range.

peace, chris
