That was pretty quick on the "status bit" fix. I'll have to get me one ordered up soon. Looks like they found a couple other issues as well, good to see they're relatively on top of things at this point.
Have you or anyone else updated and tested yet? :P

just did a living room test.
looks like they fixed the status bit problem.  24/96 from the v-3 works fine!

Me too.  It looks like the problem is gone.

Does anyone have any more information on what this fix is about?

"Fixed problem with properly displaying charge status when external battery packs are used"

What did it display before?  That it was charging?  That it wasn't charging?

I've upgraded already and noticed the following.

1.  The battery meter shows a full charge on the MT II.
2.  I plug in a fully charged external battery pack in and the MT II shows that it is charging.
3.  After some time, it shows that it is not charging even though the external battery still has juice (of course, I'm using an experimental battery:  http://taperssection.com/index.php/topic,96307.0.html).  The battery level on the MT II shows that it is half charged at this point.

My homemade battery may not be the best to test with.  Anyone see something different?

On the displayed power status.  I plugged in my external power and set the MTII to record using the external 1/8 with an 8gb card and the back light on high.  9 hours latter the external battery's low power light started to blink.  The MT still had the full charge icon.  Then about 1/2 hour later the light still blinking on the external, the power level on the MT started to go down.

I guess the fix is that it is more accurate with the external power still giving it power but, not the full amount needed.

Now that they took care of that, here is a little bitch I have.

No matter how you set the back light in either the setting or the hard switch on the side when you put the unit on hold the light turns off.  No way to have it stay on and have the hold switch engaged.  They say this way it saves on the battery.  I say let me have the freedom to leave it on.  They never answered back on the reply to them.

The old MT had a menu option that you could set the time in which it disappears and one of the options was never turn off; does that not exist anymore?

It exists, but as anhisr noted, if the hold switch is on - the light turns off.  Even when you have set to never turn off.

I just bought an MTII from Todd Trego on the Yard Sale. Can't wait to get it in. Thanks for doing all the legwork on getting them to move so quickly on the firmware upgrade. +T's all around.

how are the seamless 2GB splits?   ???

I remember seeing that this was supposed to be a feature, wondering how it is working.

Peace,
Ben

Here is the response that I received from M-Audio regarding my feature request:

"[Alex Solano -- 01/03/2008 09:38:00]
Thanks for the information, I'll go ahead and mention it as a feature request."

I haven't tried it, but it is reported to be seamless in this thread:

Does pressing a button (any button) while the hold switch is on bring the light back on? That was what I'd do on the MT 1 sometimes when not using an external battery. Yes, I'd get a "hold button is on" message, but the unit would light and I could see the meters behind the message. Just curious to know, but I too would very much want the freedom to keep the light on all the time.

Message goes on but, the light does not.

Going to upgrade to v1.0.1 and hope it fixes a problem no one has reported.

Namely the 88.2K recording mode DOES NOT WORK! Instead the deck rolls off the audio at 21.5K Hz like it's still working in the 44.1 recording mode.

In 96K mode audio goes out to 44.5K Hz like you'd expect.

On page 11 of the manual it states.

When “Always on” is selected, the back light will be on
whenever MicroTrack II is powered on.

Nothing about except when put on hold.

RE: BACKLIGHT ISSUE

I opened a ticket too. I still only have the original MT which I really love, but I want to get the new on for the seamless split. I think with enough noise, they'll make the switch which I have to beleive was an oversight anyway. Their initial response makes no sense.

I'd recommend anyone with some time, go to the site and make this request. That way the issue will be elevated. Thanks, and to those who already have a Microtrack 2, I hope this helps! Keep the info coming on how it is performing.

Incident Data 1: ID = NA105393,
Backlight will not stay lit on Microtrack 2
The backlight will not stay lit on the Microtrack 2. There should be an option to allow the screen to stay lit always. I also have the MT 24/96 too and that DOES have an option to allow the screen backlight to stay on always. The new model, the Microtrack 2 does not. Please fix this as it is impossible to use in the dark. Battery savings is not important to me, and having the option to turn the backlight on always is critical. Thank you.
