I am looking to upgrade my mic setup but currently don't have the extra money (gotta buy text books monday). I am debating on trying to tape a show at a venue that uses airport style metal detectors. My setup for the show would be a Sony RH1 and the CSB and Battery Box set up. So my question was if the metal detector would go off or not. The thing I think might set it off would be the battery box, but I wasn't entirely sure so I thought I would since I thought somebody here might know.
Much thanks for your help. :)

Hi Scott-
My MZ-RH1 and Church Audio battery box did not set off a metal detector when I was wanded. Both are mostly plastic though. If the Core Sound battery box is mostly metal it could have been different story with that.
I have not had experience with airport style detectors. Hopefully someone else can chime in on that and on the battery box.

Core-Sounds site says the battery box is made out of 'die cast aluminum' but I don't know what type of metal the detectors detect cause I have titanium in my left forearm and it never goes off for that.

Some metal detectors will only pick up iron/steel, while others will detect just about any metal (including aluminum, lead, etc.).
The most important part in regards to your concern is the amount of metal present. Most venues probably have it set fairly insensitive to avoid a huge number of alarms due to keys, zippers, etc. The main thing they're after is stopping any guns or knives, which have a much larger "footprint" than your battery box.

That's good to know. I thought I'd ask since if it would be going off I'd have to try and either borrow a setup from the loaner section or try to work up some spare money to get a used set in the yard sale section since even if I did order mine now, I wouldn't get them in time (was gonna go for the church audio set up, which takes 4 weeks I think).
