Title: inline battery operated mic preamp for iRiver H120 - any use?

I've seen this product on Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260202573572&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016) and I was wondering if it would boost the iRiver's performance with an external mic. Any comments anyone?

its mono so even if it worked its prob not going to be what you want it for

This is not an amplifier. It is only a smart batterybox, a power supply, feeding 3V to the JFET in the mic capsule.
