Title: Sony D-50 and Plug In Power?
Post by: Mike Rivera on January 16, 2008, 01:51:21 PM
Sorry if this is stupid, but if I'm using a battery box (like one from Soundprofessionals) to power an Ext. Mic, do I select "NO" when the D-50 menu asks if I want Plug-In Power?

Select "no" because you are powering the mics with your BB and don't need the D-50 to power them for you.

in case you select "Yes", will there be a difference in the recorded sound?

Plug-in-Power when turned on will present a greater load to the mic/powering module output.  Likely not an issue with most mics/powering boxes, but output signal from mics will be slightly lower as a result.
