Title: Anyone ever have an optical jack fail on a JB3?
Post by: shaunpekar on January 19, 2008, 02:34:57 AM
SSIA?

I went to record one of those once in a lifetime shows tonight (Red Cred Trio with Ben Perowsky, John Medeski and Chris Speed) and after I had gotten everything set up, I went to the bathroom and came back and the band was just coming on. I went to push record on the JB3 and no levels. I freaked. After about 2 minutes of trouble shooting I figured out that the optical cable was a little wiggly. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and nothing, so unplugged it again and looked, and to my f'n amazment, the optical jack was gone!!!

It is now floating around inside my JB3. what the hell! Ive used the recorder all of 10 times and have treated it like a newborn infant. IDK what to do...(the plus side is my girlfriend promised I'd get that FR2LE Ive been lusting over, but still)

 :-\

Anyone?

Happened to me twice.  First time was at the Stones show in Albany '05.  I doubt Creative Labs will fix it for free, since the unit is now discontinued.  But it doesn't hurt to call either.  Good luck.  +T for your troubles.

Lots of us have had that combo jack fail...   I'll fix the jack for Karma... you pay the postage.
