My mics are 6" long and I can't seem to get the capsules as close as they should be to run DIN (20cm). The xlr ends of the mics are touching and this is without the cables in them (still waiting on the cables). Do I need to add a spacer to one mic in order to raise it above the other mic in order to run DIN and DINa? I guess ORTF would also require something like this too?? Thanks for your assistance, as I am obviously new at this.

Well let us know a few tihngs.
What mics are you running?
What type of mic bar?
Shockmounts?
-
I've got Busman mics and am trying to use the T-bar that came with them. Also using the shockmounts that came with them. All fittings are 5/8 27tpi.

Well the easiest and quickest way is just to invert one of the mics/mounts on the mic bar. One under and one over.
Something like this:

Otherwise there a a few threads here about different risers that will allow you to keep both mics above the mic bar. All are less than $10 I believe.

Thanks for the response. If I put one mic above the t bar and one below they will be seperated about 6" and this will definately solve the problem of them hitting each other. I didn't know if that much of a difference in height would impact the recording in any way. I have been searching for a riser about 1 -2 inches 5/8" female to 5/8" male and haven't found anything yet. Thanks again for the input and if anyone can help me with a link to a riser/spacer? I'd really appreciate it.

Search this specific forum (Microphones and Setup) on the phrase T-Bar Riser.
You'll get lots of hits.

This is a hot topic these days :).
Here's a link to an archive thread with some options, Nicks Picks just added one that would work quite well, you may need a couple washers for a touch more height though:

B&H photo has a few different options that will work, but their site seems to be down today though so I can't get you any specific links right now.
If you can get some 5/8>3/8 thread adapters there are plenty of hardware store solutions you can use from a 1" piece of pvc pipe to metal collars etc...but you do need to be able to use 3/8 bolts as the 5/8 pitch size is pretty exclusive to the audio/video industry.
Here's a pic of the set-up I use with my avantones(burgundy mics) which are the same size as the busman mics (DIN-A on those). Notice everything has/uses 3/8 hardware.(the other vertical bar is something else I made up today after refining an earlier idea, that one's DIN) Both T-bar and vertical bar where made for less than $10 combined(I've also made about 4 or 5 other bars and mounts from the same supplies).
The 2nd pic is the brass 5/8>3/8 thread adapter, metal sleeve, and 3/8 bolt w/ a couple washers to keep the bolt from topping out too early.

Thanks for the great ideas. I did search the site and came up with some great options. I may make a bar like busterr did and just skip using the busman t-bar. I just didn't realize the mics would not be able to be on the same plane when using these configurations. Thanks again to all of you.

right channel mic /______\ left channel mic
is a way to run them quasi-DIN without a spacer (provided the bar is long enough); just have to remember to make the adjustment when plugging in cables.
The angle is incorrect but it's as good as I can get with just the keyboard.

The spacer many here have recommended is the Rapido:

I plan on getting one when I get my AKG bar.
-
I think I will get the rapido and if needed I will add to it a 5/8 to 3/8 adapter and another 3/8 to 5/8 adapter this should give me about 1 1/4" rise. Again, thanks for all of the responses.

Ordering one of these moday.

I turned one bolt upside down on my akg stereo bar to try din today but,
with my akg's and at8410a shockmounts the vertical space seemed a little excessive.
It was over 8 inches.
I have a vert bar so I'm not really all that worried about it.
But I don't want my akg bar to be useless.

If you have a guitar center nearby, they have a rapid release mic connector that is a perfect riser. $3.99, if my memory serves me.

Is it sturdy/built to handle the weight?

I went to Guitar Center in Richmond today and they did not seem to know what it was I was talking about. I think I just got some bad help. Luckily Sam Ash Music was in the shopping center next door and they had both a quick release riser about 2 1/2" long that looks like it will work perfectly. They also had a nice 5/8" to 3/8" Adapter that will give me about a 1" rise. Thanks for all the help. I wish I could give out some +T's.
