Title: Anyone know of a low priced alternative for laptop transfers?

Anyone have experience with any for DAT>CD transfers? I've been looking at these:

Edirol UA-1D
Edirol UA-3
M/Audio Audiophile USB
Tascam US-122

I'll be using Windows 98 and SoundForge. Thanks.

dont know much about tascam or maudio,but i suspeted and phil lucks verified that the ua-1 and ua-3 are both not bit accurate,so i would stay away from those if thats an issue

The Ua-1d is NOT bit perfect but is really easy to use and install. If your not concerned with seeding the tapes and only want them for personal use it works great. Nice price as well. But if your looking for seeding then audiophile USb would be a great choice. But is more expensive. I guess it just depends on what you want to do.

US-122 doesn't have digital inputs...so i guess that's out of the mix...

Is the Audiophile USB bit accurate? Does it hurt my transfers if I'm going them via USB? or does it not matter? Thanks for the help guys!

usb is fine at 16 bits and under or at 48khz, its when using 24 bit /88.1khz and above that usb proves to be unstable, i think the audiophile will fit your situation nicely
